Can't seem to get a definitive value for shields. I know there is hero.shieldAD and hero.shieldAP but they seem to not work correctly.
For example, Blitzcranks mana barrier only gets detected as shieldAD, while it blocks ALL damage.

I'm not aware of any shields that only block physical damage and even if there are some, best to ignore them. Treat shieldAD as a total shield and ShieldAP as magic shields. Shouldn't cause too many problems.

Yes but that's what I said. it's such a niche/un-used thing that it's not worth worrying about. if you care that much about that specific hero just read buff details.
The tldr was that shieldAd just means shield.
